Beard Oil 101 - How to apply
Share
How to apply beard oil the right way (without looking like you deep-fried your beard in pakoda oil).
I get it - you bought some beard oil, gave it a generous pour like your ammi with cooking oil, and now your chin looks like it's ready to fry pakoras. Let's get you looking sharp and ready for the day or whatever occasion you have on.
Step 1: Start with a clean beard
Easiest way is give it a good wash in the shower, and gently tower-dry your beard so it's slightly damp but not dripping wet. Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ placed great emphasis on cleanliness and personal grooming - he regularly washed and combed his blessed beard.
Step 2: Pump drops into your hand
Short beard: 1–2 drops
Medium beard: 4–5 drops
No beard? no drops.
Start small and get a feel for what works for you.
Step 3: Warm it up between your hands
Rub the oil between your palms to warm it up. This spreads the oil evenly and makes it glide on smoother - like warm ghee on hot roti. Yaani, luxury.
Step 4: Massage like you mean it
Massage it into your beard and skin underneath. Be thorough, like your mum checking your pockets before washing
Step 5: Wipe any excess oil and comb afterwards to shape
Use a wooden comb or a brush you have handy to comb through gently to spread the oil and untangle the fuzz.
Why this matters:
Beard oil is not just for shine. It nourishes your skin, stops itchiness, softens the hair and improves blood flow to the area to help promote beard growth long term.
Following the Sunnah of grooming is an act of love for yourself and for the path of our Prophet ﷺ. And looking good? That’s just the cherry on top.
